Hmmm. Hrrrmmm. Yeah.

I’m supposed to write here. I promised myself that I would. I’ve been breaking a lot of those promises to myself lately. Going to run three times a week. Nope, twice last week and once this week. Fail. Going to track my diet in an effort to be aware of my choices and make better ones. Nope, I’ve missed the last couple days of that. Going to put up Christmas lights, clean up yard, work on the garage. Nope, still sitting on the couch, watching football.

I know I should cut myself some slack, it’s been a stressful couple of weeks with more to come. Hospitalized family members, medical tests and waiting for the results for the 5-year-old, work stresses…

I always feel like I should start with an update on our lives when I get around to writing here again. So, if you’re interested, here’s what’s been up in our lives.

The small ones are still the light of our lives. The big one is five years old. He’s in kindergarten and he loves it. He’s such a little sponge, he learns so quickly! And a chatter box, there’s no end to the chuckles we get at the things that come out of his mouth. His VUR continues to be a concern. He hasn’t had infections, but his last routine ultrasound left his pediatric nephrologist concerned, so we’ve had to go for other tests. This past week was a renal function study that went fairly well. Our boy didn’t even flinch at the injections, I was so proud of him! Unfortunately, though, he was unable to lay still as long as they were hoping, so he may need a repeat of the procedure. We’ve also got some travel for another ultrasound and a second opinion from a urologist in Sktn. On the positive side, this is all preventative testing/procedures, the boy hasn’t been sick, but it is still a worry and it’s hard to see your kid go through the procedures.

The little one is delightful. She loves to sing and dance, she’s rough and tumble, and she loves to play dress-up-princess. She’s in preschool and she loves it too. I try not to compare the kids too much, but she seems to be so much faster at developing than her brother was at this age. On the other hand, she idolizes her brother and learns so much from him, she’s got an advantage that he did not have.

We are so incredibly thankful for this little life we’ve put together.
